2017 has been a busy year at Steel Services. While working on delivering projects to our clients, we have been busy behind the scenes constructing a new factory for plate processing. During a recent operational assessment, we identified plate handling as a major drag on our efficiencies. We therefore designed and constructed a new plate handling section where all of our flat material storage and plate part processing will be centralised. This new production facility will come on line early in 2018 and will remove significant safety and time constraints in production of plate parts.

Highlights include:

  • Double portal design
  • 50m long and 47m wide with 2350m2 under roof
  • Crane - 2 x 10ton with 8.6m and 9.3m hook heights respectively
  • State of the art Kinetic plate processing machine (details to follow in a future newsletter)
  • Dedicated street entrance with own material storage area
  • NC plate roll with 2500mm width and 25mm thickness capability

We are sure that the addition of this new facility will radically improve the effectiveness of our operation and enable Steel Services to provide an even better and more compelling end to end fabrication solution for all types of projects.

On behalf of the people of Steel Services, we would like to thank you for your support during 2017. Each year seems to be tougher than the last but we remain optimistic that the steel industry can make a return to its former levels.
